Unfortunately, the UAW has priced GM out of the market unless they undertake cuts like these.
With the average GM worker earning over $50 per hour in wages and benefits, and a labor agreement that pays them a good chunk of it for years when they get laid off, this was bound to happen.
I'm all for good wages, but what they pay auto workers is crazy.
Years ago my BBS tagline was "union labor, pricing America out of the world market". The auto industry has helped prove the point.

I don't know what is going to get them out of the trouble they're in... I'm just glad I don't have Wagoner's job!
